UV Lenses are used in many collimation, focusing, or laser applications that operate in, or extend into, the ultraviolet spectrum. UV Lenses are optical lenses consisting of a single or multiple elements that have been designed for optimal performance when used with ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet lenses utilize specific substrates, anti-reflection coatings, or a combination of the two to maintain performance when operating below 400nm. Many optical lenses that perform well in the ultraviolet may also have strong performance in the visible, near-infrared, or infrared spectra.
Edmund Optics offers a wide variety of standard UV Lenses, including singlet lenses such as PCX or DCX lenses, achromatic lenses, or ball lenses. Achromatic lenses are ideal for use with polychromatic illumination in fluorescence applications or for focusing ultraviolet light sources. UV achromatic lenses also provide superior chromatic aberration correction compared to standard ultraviolet lenses. Available substrates include calcium fluoride or UV fused silica, while anti-reflection coatings include MgF2, UV-AR, or UV-VIS.
