SWIR Imaging

SWIR (Short-Wave Infrared) imaging systems capture a broader range of wavelengths, typically from the visible spectrum to around 1750 nm. SWIR cameras, such as those using the Sony IMX990 sensor, provide excellent imaging for materials that absorb or reflect light differently in the SWIR range, which is valuable for various industries. The SWIR range is especially sensitive to material properties, including moisture content, chemical composition, and surface structures. Be aware that SWIR imaging requires specialized optics to maximize performance. Typical applications may include Industrial inspection, semiconductor manufacturing, agricultural monitoring, and security applications, where material composition and moisture content differences are visible only in the SWIR range. To achieve optimal performance, use SWIR-specific lenses to transmit light in the 950-1750 nm range, as regular lenses may not perform well in this wavelength. For lighting, SWIR LEDs or lasers in the 1000-1700 nm range ensure adequate illumination while avoiding visible light interference. Bandpass filters designed for the SWIR range help isolate specific wavelengths, enhancing image clarity and minimizing noise from unwanted light. By choosing the appropriate components, you can ensure clear and precise imaging for SWIR applications.
